“International Women’s Day Celebration and Self-Help Group Market Fair”
Under the leadership of Chetana, which spearheads the social and charitable activities of the Mavelikkara Diocese, this year’s International Women’s Day celebration was held at the Kattanam Pope Pius Higher Secondary School Auditorium on March 9th. The event was chaired by Most Rev. Dr. Joshua Mar Ignatius, Bishop of Mavelikkara Diocese. Advocate U Prathiba, MLA of Kayamkulam, inaugurated the event.
Advocate K. Prasad, Chairman of the Kerala State Backward Classes Development Corporation, inaugurated the distribution of loans to self-help groups. During the event, Chetana launched its Radio New Media and honored outstanding entrepreneurs and the best performing self-help group units.
In the program, Fr. Daniel Thekkedath, Correspondent of the Mavelikkara Bhadrashan, hoisted the flag. Chetana also organized various cultural activities by the self-help groups. Mrs. Sini C.O., Bank Manager of Haripad, was honored for her contributions.
The event was attended by Fr. Francis Plavarakunnel, Director of Chetana, Fr. Philip Jammathukal, Assistant Director, Unit Directors, Chetana staff, and members of the Self-Help Groups (SHG).
